Before you get to your Resort or Hotel or Rental Property in Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is a wonderful getaway from the winter blahs out here in
Alberta. It's an ideal time to take off and get some warmth and a beautiful change of scenery.
Getting There
The flights out to Puerto Vallarta can be expensive if you are arranging yourself
without a hotel package but to escape the winter cold and to experience the warm and the moisture of the sea air is
well worth it. Some people I am told will buy a cheap package at a less expensive hotel and then just go to the
more expensive one to save on the air fare. I haven't tried this out so I don't know if it
works.

Welcome to the Puerto Vallarta
Airport
Once you land in Puerto Vallarta you of course will have to ensure you have filled
out the proper visitors pass or visa that is normally supplied on the plane. Don't forget to sign the back in two
places as was pointed out by the people before we went through customs. Ensure that you always keep the half of the
pass in a safe place because it is required before you can leave the country. Once you initially go through customs
you then pick up your bags and then your baggage could be scanned or not before you are allowed to leave that area.
It seems to indicate on the signage that indicate you may not have your baggage scanned. In our case and most of
the people going through I didn't see anyone bypass that procedure.
Beware of the Timeshare Representatives.
Once you get through all of formalities there is one more obstacle you will have to
make it through. It's the dreaded timeshare representatives who are willing to tell you anything in order to get
your attention and keep you occupied with promises of free brunch, free tickets cruises and even cash in your
pocket, if you will agree to attend a tour of some of their facilities. Unless you are interested in buying a
timeshare or you would like to play the game , I would advise you to run not walk through that section.
Getting Your Transportation
The next part would be to get a local taxi to your destination, unless you have
prearranged transportation. If so, remember they may meet you before the timeshare area but they can't dragged you
through and once again you will be told your ride is going to be a little longer and while your waiting see what
these timeshare people have to offer you. Your ride will be waiting just outside of the timeshare peoples area. Cab
fares can vary but you should probably go to one of the many taxi booths to arrange for your taxi. Getting a taxi
to your destination can cost you more than coming back. So I advise you to see if you can arrange for your facility
to pick you up and save you some pesos.
Once you go to your destination then you can start enjoying your vacation.
We went to Velas
Vallarta which we found to be an exception place with many great
features and facilities.
